Greetings,
I am Candist Wilson, a most recent graduate of Northcentral University February 2022. This is where I obtained my Doctoral degree in Business Administration specializing in healthcare. Kaplan University is where I obtained my graduate degree in Health Information Management. University of Phoenix is where I obtained my undergraduate degree in Healthcare Administration. Prior to attending a University, I attended MedVance Institute where I became a Certified Professional Coder (through the AAPC). Lastly, my initial introduction into my career was with Nashville College of Medical Careers. This is where I thought I would take on the medical field becoming a Medical Assistant. Never, would I had imagined I would further my education as I did. Being in healthcare revenue cycle requires you to be extremely skillful, however being humble and coachable has been a major asset. I am dedicated, diligent and a problem solver. One of my strengths is degreasing risk while increasing revenue. Another strength is quickly identifying the root cause of deficiencies.
Within the revenue cycle industry, I pride myself on the amount of experience I have gathered throughout my 15+ years-experience. Not only do I have my hands of patient treatment experience (front-end clinical) which prepared me for the (back-end) full revenue cycle. The experience that I have received has been unimaginable. One lesson has taught me things such as, patients are typically going to the doctor and/or hospital due to being sick. The patient presents with healthcare coverage and possibly even pays a co-pay. The last thing a sick patient needs is an incorrect bill being received. Not only does this impact the patients, but it also impacts the organization accounts receivables negatively. That one particular lesson that I was taught has driven me to master the FTB (front-to-back) revenue cycle management realm.
I truly believe when you love what you do, it is not work. For me, revenue cycle is my passion, my niche', my area of expertise. I am a natural born leader and do not mind taking charge. I have been one who has always led by example. My leadership style is democratic. Being a democratic leader, I enjoy the team feedback with setting goals. I credit my leadership style as my effectiveness of being able to successfully operate both independently and with a team. Effective leaders must also be able to listen, strategize and implement. These are areas that I have been most effective in.
Within the revenue cycle, there are so many moving parts such as, contracting, credentialing, negotiating of fee schedules, patient intake, provider documentation, coding, billing and invoicing and much more. However, because I have mastered the revenue cycle FTB, the staff morale is increased, receptive to ideas and eager to do their absolute best. Remaining positive, patient and coachable has been my keys to success.

  • Executed 85% quality audits of 68 providers, and enhanced productivity targets by 85% of HBMA benchmarks.

  • Monitored 20 employee performance, payroll, and time clock management through the Paychex software.

  • Managed revenue cycle team members, providing ongoing training, coaching, and performance feedback to ensure team members have the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in their roles.

Southern Nevada Health District (FQHC/CHC)

  • Pioneered the entire RCM scope for 5 locations in Southern Nevada’s only Health Department.

  • Led the negotiation and remediation of a $1.5M legacy software infringement claim; resolved the issue without penalty and with less than $15K in legal fees.

  • Assessed and on-boarded 28 Mid-Level providers and Medical Doctor Employees from all over the US <6 months.

  • Directed daily program business operations, and community outreach membership recruitment, with assets of $4.5M.

  • Collaborated with an executive management team of eight to grow top-line revenues by over 850% in three years through new customer acquisition.
